Signature Illumination Designs was founded in 2009 with a mission to create unique outdoor environments that bring family, friends, tenants, co-workers and loved ones together. However, we aren’t just another landscape lighting firm, we’re a family-owned company built on our commitment to bringing light to our clients and our community.
As a company that opened its doors during the Great Recession, we know how important it is to support the community you live in and serve. Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to support a nonprofit organization that helps families battling cancer.
The Denise Marie Flaherty Foundation is an organization involved in the fight against cancer helping families cover the costs associated with medical treatment as well as supporting research facilities for a cure. The organization was founded in 2013 by Brian Flaherty after he lost his mother, Denise Marie Flaherty, to cancer as a way to express gratitude for the love and kindness his family received during her treatment. He wanted to provide this same support to other families. What started as a grassroots effort in 2003 has grown to become a multi-state foundation that harnesses the power of community to raise money for families battling cancer.
In November, the foundation hosted its first Dallas Golf Tournament and Gala. Hosted at the Cowboys Golf Club, the event honored those who are in the fight and memorialize loved ones lost to cancer. Signature Illumination Designs was invited to support this event by sponsoring a hole, participating in the golf tournament and the gala. All donations raised at the Inaugural Dallas Outing and Gala will support local families and fund collaborative research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Signature jumped at the opportunity to support this inaugural Dallas event and give the Denise Marie Flaherty Foundation a warm welcome to Texas.
Though we typically are behind the scenes creating custom lighting designs, it was an honor for our team to dust off our clubs to participate in this event to support a great foundation and help local families in the fight against cancer.
Everything’s bigger in Texas and we’re proud to share that the first golf tournament in Dallas raised a total of $126,000! Because of this fundraiser, the Denise Marie Flaherty Foundation was able to provide $45,000 to three local families to help alleviate financial burdens as they battle cancer, as well as set aside funds for year-round support for other families.
We are thrilled to have played a part in supporting these families and look forward to further championing this incredible organization. If you would like to join the Denise Marie Flaherty Foundation in the fight against cancer, consider donating today. Learn more about the foundation and donate.
