The countdown to summer 2021 has begun! This is one of our favorite times of the year at Signature Illumination Designs as homeowners prepare their outdoor spaces so they can enjoy the season. For this Flower Mound home, we had the pleasure of designing and installing a unique lighting scheme that elevates the outdoor space and maximizes their summertime fun. You know what they say — everything is bigger in Texas — and this home delivered on that promise. Because of the size of the property, one of our top priorities was to ensure the inviting, soft ambiance would be carried throughout the home.
Starting at the front of the home, we installed warm downlights in the large trees lining the driveway. This technique is one of our favorites, especially for large properties with long driveways. The downlights mimic the natural glow of the moon on a clear night sky, instantly setting an inviting and cozy ambiance.
To ensure the whole property has that moonlit feel, we carried this technique to the lush trees in the backyard. Now, every evening dip in the pool is underneath the warm glow of the moon.
This backyard is far from ordinary. From the two private fire pits and kids’ play area to the unique jumping rock and waterfall feature in the pool, this backyard is a one-of-a-kind space that deserves a custom lighting solution. To accent the unique landscape, we installed warm uplights at the base of the ornamental trees. This subtle lighting technique enhances the texture of the landscape and brings the entire backyard to life.
When developing a lighting scheme, winding walkways and rocky paths require careful attention. For this home, we used a variety of low-level lights to illuminate the heavy pedestrian areas, ensuring safety while navigating the property. Warm path lights and hidden step lights gently guide guests without distracting from the beauty of the natural environment.
