Bright, cooler temperature lights have become a trend in outdoor lighting over the past few years. Homeowners and property managers are drawn to the clean, modern look that bright, cooler lights can give to a property.
At Signature Illumination Designs, we agree that these white lights are clean, however, we also believe a similar look can be achieved through the use of soft, warm lights and moonlighting. Warm lights with a soft orange glow can still give the modern and clean look of bright, cooler temperature lights, but they also add to a property’s ability to be intimate and invitational.
In this home, we took a soft, warm approach in the lighting design of the front and back yards. Our team installed 120V LED lights in the tips of the large canopy trees out front to create a subtle moonlighting effect. These soft LED lights shines through the branches and create natural, moonlight- like shadows on the ground. As the tree branches sway, the shadows dance on the grass to bring fluidity to the entranceway of the home that welcomes people in.
Additionally, the soft lights mounted to the columns lining the front entrance of the home cast light on the home’s beautiful architecture. The column lights and lights installed at the base of the trees and shrubs in the flower bed allow for the unique features of the home to be seen without creating a distracting glare.
This project was done together with Aquaterra Outdoors, whose team did a lovely job with the landscape and outdoor décor of the home. In the backyard, we enjoyed the opportunity to highlight some of the featured pieces Aquaterra installed. We used uplights to softly illuminate the small ornamental trees lining the pool, as well as to highlight the gorgeous vine wall feature leaning against the exterior of the home.
For the luxurious pool area, we installed submersible LED lights that allow the family to extend their pool usage into the evening hours. Additionally, we used low voltage LED lighting in and around the pool to create a softer and more intimate environment.
Overall, the warm tones of the lighting and subtle placements of the fixtures hidden in the trees and bushes create a soft and welcoming environment for all to enjoy.
